Mod 2: So, while I think this is a perfectly fine Kimono set, and the shades of pink are my particular favorites, I feel overall very ‘meh’ about this co-ordination. I like all the pieces separately, I just feel that it is obvious in that it was designed to fit together. It’s very much Liz Lisa style but overall if I saw someone walking down the street I’d just think they were too lazy to Kimono and bought the thing off the rack like this because they had to get a kimono and it was the least offensive to their senses, and the shop-girl picked everything for them. But that’s kind of how fashion works. So. Whatev.
It’s very much in fashion with the pinks and turquoises and a slight deviation with the Grandma’s sofa green obi instead of something vibrant. It feels like Nagoya’s “English Garden” section at the Botanical garden only without the butterflies and preying mantis and sun-burn flowers… Most of my disappointment stems from the lack of playful motif use and the repetition of Kimono-flowers matching Obi-Flowers. These designer sets are often very lazy in same-same matching.
But you know. It’s pretty.
